—Hey there everyone! Here’s a new poster I recently completed a week or so ago for the Lebanon’s Farmers’ Market. This is the second year I’ve made a poster for the city and I’m proud to have an aunt who sells her wonderful baked breads and sweets there. Farmer’s markets are the jam and you should check one out if you haven’t already!

Challenge 31: Life After College – Work

Hey there folks- Caitlin’s topic of post-college struggles definitely strikes a chord with many of my friends including myself. I chose to illustrate finding that balance between work and play- eventually leading to success, both personally and monetary.

—Hey there folks. I had the opportunity to work with the awesome AD, Wes Bausmith, over at the LA Times for another Affairs illustration. The story dealt with some pretty deep subject matter with the author reflecting upon flings and short-term relationships during his 20’s. Mix that with a father-son trip to the arctic and you have some stellar material to work with. You can check out the article here– hope you enjoy!

—My work hanging up in the Light Grey Art Lab’s group exhibition, Macro & Micro: A Celebration of the Natural World. The gallery looks so great with lots of stellar work- if you’re around Minneapolis you should definitely stop by!

–My piece for the Light Grey Art Lab show, Macro & Micro. It’s inspired by old abandoned places being re-claimed by nature and is titled Daphne Theatre. If you really enjoy it, the piece is up for purchase here, otherwise if you’re in Minneapolis you should check out the show!

Challenge 30: Illustrator’s Choice

Having the opportunity to pick the topic of this challenge- I opted to revisit an editorial sketch not chosen for a past project. The original article’s subject matter delt with trying to build a home life from a past of flings and short-term relationships. What I responded most to in the sketch, was the metaphor with the house of cards and the overall composition- making it an easy pick to use for this time around. Hope you all enjoy!

—What could this fella be taking a photo of? Guess it’s not too difficult to figure out BUT MAN is the rest of the illo fun- Anybody up in Minneapolis this following Friday should stop by the Light Grey Art Lab for the opening reception of the Macro & Micro show. The rest of this piece will be on display along with some other stellar works by fellow creatives.

Outside the cars are beeping
Out a song
Just in your honor
And even though they do not know it
All mankind are now your brothers
And as the cathedral has spoken
Wishing well to all us sinners
And where the sight grew silent
Til next year’s big human winner

Lyrical Inspiration

Hey there everyone– For the latest Square Carousel challenge I drew inspiration from the Regina Spektor song, Human of the Year. Any of my close friends know that I will be the last person to bring up spirituality in conversation– I feel that sort of thing is very personal. However, this song came right to mind when thinking of this illustration challenge. The first time I listened to it, I immediately related with the lyrics– that feeling of not just being connected to a higher power but also the living world around us. No matter what your beliefs are, thanks for taking the time to check it out.

Challenge 27: The Big Bad

Evening folks— for this challenge I chose the biggest baddie in fashion, Ms. Cruella de Vil. Besides the whole crazy puppy stealing, animal skinning, and fur wearing business- she’s an over the top personality that I’d imagine (despite being despicable) would be outrageous and fun to be around, just watch your pups.

Challenge 26: New Year’s Resolution

Evening folks– This challenge was a bit of a tough one for me just because I don’t typically make resolutions for New Year’s. That’s not to say I don’t have many goals for myself- growth in health, my career, love and friendship etc. I decided to draw upon another New Year’s tradition (putting these goals in a jar) and made myself a terrarium of dreams for 2013. Hope you enjoy!

Yesterday evening I was pleasantly surprised to find that my editorial work has been featured on Behance’s Illustration Served! I’ve been putting up my portfolio on the platform for a while and I would always watch the main page for inspiration by other artists and designers. After a particularly difficult week, it’s nice to have the weekend starting off on the right foot!

One thing that I look forward to during this time of year is hitting the slopes to go skiing. I decided to take that idea and add a twist for the holidays. Hope you all enjoy.
